Marie Wood, M.D.
Founder and Principal Investigator of the HRBP
Medical Oncologist, Professor of Medicine

Dr. Wood established the HRBP in 2003 as a clinical program with a research focus for women with a moderate to high risk for developing breast cancer. Dr. Wood is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Vermont and Fletcher Allen Health Care and a Medical Oncologist at the Vermont Cancer Center. Dr. Wood provides clinical, research and programmatic oversight to the program. She refers patients to the program and related studies and develops and implements research projects for the HRBP. Dr. Wood is also the director of the Vermont Cancer Center’s Familial Cancer Program.

Fonda Kingsley, M.H.S
HRBP Program Coordinator

Fonda is the Program Coordinator for the HRBP and is responsible for managing and promoting the program, assisting with grant proposals, providing oversight to research projects and conducting data analysis and database management. Fonda is also serving as the research coordinator for the following studies:
-Serum Biomarkers Associated with Breast Density in a High Risk Population
-Screening Breast MRI in Women at Increased Risk for Breast Cancer: A Validation Study.

Robin Hayden, M.S.N, A.P.R.N.
Nurse Practitioner

Robin has practiced as a Nurse Practitioner since graduating from Simmons College in 1980. She returned to Vermont in 1984 and worked for many years in women’s health care at the University of Vermont. In 2000, she began her work at the Breast Care Center at Fletcher Allen Health Care. In addition to monitoring women with a history of breast cancer, Robin provides risk assessment, clinical evaluation and education for women with an increased chance of developing breast cancer. She is actively involved with the High Risk Breast Program and refers women to appropriate screening and prevention studies when indicated.

Wendy McKinnon, M.S.
Genetic Counselor, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics

Wendy is a certified genetic counselor specializing in genetic counseling and testing for familial cancer.  She is the genetic counselor for the Vermont Cancer Center’s Familial Cancer Program and for the University of Vermont’s Department of Pediatrics Vermont Regional Genetics Center.

Andrea Miller, M.S., A.P.R.N.
Nurse Practitioner

Andrea has been a nurse practitioner since 1993. She joined the High Risk Breast Program in 2007, bringing years of experience as a certified oncology nurse to the program. She provides comprehensive clinical evaluations for high risk patients.

Mary Stanley, M.D.
Breast Surgeon, Assistant Professor of Surgery

Dr. Mary Stanley is a highly skilled Breast Surgeon at the Breast Care Center dedicated to the care and management of breast cancer patients. Dr. Stanley is available, in conjunction with plastic surgeons, to discuss the risks and benefits surrounding prophylactic mastectomy with and without reconstruction for women with a personal history of breast cancer or with an exceedingly high risk for developing breast cancer based on family history and/or a genetic predisposition.  Dr. Stanley refers patients to the HRBP and studies they are eligible for. She also performs study-related procedures, such as random periareolar fine needle aspiration to obtain breast cells for analysis.

Research Project Assistant

Jen is a Research Project Assistant for clinical trials in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Vermont Cancer Center. She is the research coordinator for the HRBP’s Clinical and Molecular Markers of Breast Cancer Risk study, Statins and Breast Cancer Biomarkers study and Map.3 studies
